A man is in hospital after a corrosive substance was thrown at him in what police are treating as a targeted attack in the Govan area of Glasgow.
The incident happened in the early hours of Sunday morning on Rathlin Street, with emergency services responding to the scene at around 3am. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment following the attack.
Detectives investigating the assault say they believe the man was specifically targeted, and are now appealing to anyone in the area who may have seen or heard anything suspicious around that time to come forward.
Govan is a busy residential area on the south side of Glasgow, and the timing of the attack in the dead of night will raise serious concerns among locals. Corrosive substance attacks are treated with the utmost severity by Police Scotland, carrying the potential for life-changing and permanent injuries to victims.
Police have not yet made any arrests in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing. Officers are urging witnesses or anyone with information, including dashcam or CCTV footage from the Rathlin Street area, to get in touch as soon as possible.
