Detectives in Oban are appealing for information after a 15-year-old girl was raped near a football pitch in the town late on Saturday night.
The attack took place at around 11.15pm, and Police Scotland launched a formal investigation shortly after the incident was reported. Officers are now urging anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward.
Oban is a relatively small coastal town on the west coast of Argyll, and an attack of this nature has understandably shaken the local community. Police have not yet confirmed whether any arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
Detectives are keen to speak to anyone who may have been near the football pitch at that time of night, whether they witnessed anything suspicious or simply noticed someone in the area. Even small details could prove significant to the investigation.
