The body of a well-known fisherman has been recovered from the sea off West Cork following a major search and rescue operation launched on Tuesday morning.
The experienced inshore fisherman had set out from Castletownbere to go pollock fishing before he failed to return, prompting emergency services to begin searching the waters off the Cork coastline.
Castletownbere is one of Ireland’s busiest fishing ports, located on the Beara Peninsula in West Cork. The area is well known for its strong fishing community, with many local families having worked the waters there for generations.
