Two men have lost their lives in separate road crashes overnight, with fatal incidents reported in counties Limerick and Meath within hours of each other.
A man in his 20s died following a crash in Co Limerick, while a man in his 50s was killed in a separate incident in Co Meath. Gardai have confirmed both fatalities and investigations into the circumstances of each crash are now underway.
The deaths bring fresh attention to road safety across the country, with fatal collisions continuing to claim lives on Irish roads. Both crashes occurred overnight, and local diversions and forensic examinations would have been carried out at each scene as is standard procedure following fatal road traffic incidents.
Gardai have appealed to anyone who may have witnessed either crash, or who was travelling in the relevant areas overnight and may have dashcam footage, to come forward and assist with their investigations.
The families of both men have been notified and are being supported by local Garda liaison officers at this deeply difficult time.
