Stolen Car Torched and Dumped in Golf Course Bunker in Clydebank

A man has been charged after a stolen car was set on fire and left abandoned in a bunker on a golf course in Clydebank.

The burnt-out vehicle was found on the second hole of Overtoun Golf Club, where it had been driven onto the course and set alight before being left to smoulder in the sand trap.

Police Scotland confirmed that a man has been charged in connection with the incident following an investigation. Officers attended the scene after the car was reported, with the vehicle found completely burnt out by the time emergency services arrived.

Overtoun Golf Club, which sits in the west of Clydebank, was left with damage to one of its holes after the incident. Golf courses across Scotland have occasionally been targeted by joyriders and those using stolen vehicles, but driving a car directly into a bunker and torching it takes things to another level entirely.

The charge follows what appears to have been a swift investigation by local officers, who were able to identify a suspect and move quickly to bring a charge. The man is expected to face proceedings in connection with the theft of the vehicle as well as its subsequent destruction.

Police have not released further details about the accused at this stage, and the case is expected to proceed through the courts in due course.
