Two women have been taken to hospital after a tree fell on them in Aberfeldy on Sunday afternoon.
The incident happened near the town’s footbridge at around 12.50pm, when the tree came down and struck both women. Locals in the area were quick to respond and rushed to help the pair before emergency services arrived.
Ambulance crews attended the scene and both women were taken to hospital for treatment. The full extent of their injuries has not been confirmed.
Aberfeldy, a small town in Perthshire, sits along the River Tay and is known for its scenic woodland walks and historic General Wade’s bridge. The footbridge area is a popular spot for both locals and visitors, particularly at weekends.
The cause of the tree falling has not yet been confirmed, though Scotland has seen bouts of strong winds and wet weather in recent weeks, which can weaken trees and increase the risk of them coming down unexpectedly.
Authorities have not released further details on the condition of the two women, but the swift response from members of the public is being credited with getting them help quickly.
Police and emergency services attended the scene to manage the situation and ensure the area was safe.
