The family of an 11-year-old girl found dead in a stream in Midlothian have paid a heartfelt tribute to a child they describe as “happy and outgoing”.
Faith Curran’s body was discovered in the Gore Water near Shank Bridge at Gore Glen on Thursday afternoon. Emergency services were called to the scene at around 4.25pm, but tragically nothing could be done to save her.
In a statement released through Police Scotland, Faith’s devastated family said she was a bright and bubbly young girl who will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her. “Faith was a happy and outgoing girl,” the family said, asking that their privacy be respected as they try to come to terms with their loss.
Gore Glen is a popular woodland walking area near Easthouses in Midlothian, with the Gore Water running through the heart of it. The area is well known locally and regularly visited by families and walkers.
Police Scotland confirmed that Faith’s death is not being treated as suspicious, and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal as is standard procedure in cases involving the sudden death of a child.
Officers have been offering support to Faith’s family during what is an unimaginably difficult time. The local community in Midlothian has been left deeply shaken by the tragedy, with many people expressing their condolences online following the news.
