Man Dies And Two Injured After Serious Crash In Co Cavan

A man in his 60s has been killed and two other people left injured following a serious road collision in Co Cavan on Wednesday.

The crash happened when a car and a van collided, leaving emergency services scrambling to the scene. The man who died was pronounced dead at the scene, while the two other people involved were taken to hospital with injuries.

GardaĆ have launched a full investigation into the circumstances of the crash and are now appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who was in the area at the time to come forward.

Road collisions resulting in fatalities have remained a serious concern across rural Ireland, where long stretches of road and mixed traffic involving both commercial vehicles and private cars can create dangerous conditions. Cavan, like many rural counties, has seen its share of tragic incidents on local roads in recent years.

Investigating gardaĆ are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have dash cam footage from the area around the time of the incident. Even small details can prove vital in helping piece together exactly what happened in the moments leading up to the crash.

The road at the scene of the collision was closed for a period following the incident to allow for a technical examination to take place. Forensic collision investigators attended the scene as part of standard procedure in any crash involving a fatality.

The man who died has not yet been formally named, with his family being notified of his death. A post mortem examination is expected to take place in due course.

Anyone with information is asked to contact their local Garda station or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
