Police are hunting a group of suspects after a man was repeatedly kicked in the head and face at a popular Aberdeenshire country park at the weekend.
The vicious assault took place at Aden Country Park in Mintlaw on Saturday, leaving investigators appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
Detectives believe a number of people were involved in the attack, during which the victim was subjected to a sustained and brutal beating. Being kicked repeatedly in the head and face puts victims at serious risk of life-changing injuries, and police are treating the incident with considerable urgency.
Aden Country Park is a well-loved green space in the heart of Mintlaw, attracting families, dog walkers and visitors from across Aberdeenshire throughout the year. The attack has understandably shaken the local community, with many residents expressing shock that such violence could take place in such a familiar and well-used public space.
Police Scotland have confirmed they are actively investigating the assault and are keen to trace those responsible as quickly as possible. Officers are urging anyone who was in the park on Saturday and may have witnessed the attack, or seen anything suspicious in the area around the time, to get in touch.
