Police in Wales are appealing for information after a dog was found dead in what they are describing as suspicious circumstances.
The animal, a male lurcher believed to be around three years old, was discovered wearing a distinctive black collar decorated with bone-shaped studs. Officers say the circumstances surrounding his death are concerning and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Lurchers are a popular breed among rural communities in Wales, often kept for working purposes, and investigators are keen to trace the dog back to his owner or establish how he came to be found in such circumstances.
Anyone who recognises the dog or has any information about what may have happened is being asked to contact police as soon as possible. Authorities have not yet disclosed the exact location where the animal was found, but have confirmed the matter is being treated seriously.
Animal welfare concerns have been growing across Wales in recent years, with rural areas in particular seeing a rise in incidents involving working dogs and lurchers. Campaigners have long called for tougher action when animals are found to have suffered harm.
