Five Men Jailed After Major Drug Supply Operation Busted in Pontefract

Five men have been handed prison sentences after a police investigation into drug supply across Pontefract and the surrounding areas, West Yorkshire Police has confirmed.

The operation targeted a network that had been running drug supply lines through the town, and the sentences mark the conclusion of what investigators say was a significant local operation.

All five men were convicted in connection with the supply of controlled drugs in and around Pontefract, a market town in the Wakefield district of West Yorkshire. The full details of the sentences, including the lengths handed down to each individual, were confirmed following the court proceedings.

West Yorkshire Police have not yet released the full breakdown of individual sentences, but confirmed that all five defendants were jailed as a result of the investigation.

Drug supply networks operating in smaller towns across West Yorkshire have been a growing concern for local police in recent years. Forces have increasingly focused resources on dismantling so-called county lines operations and localised supply gangs that target communities outside of major city centres like Leeds and Bradford.

Pontefract, while a relatively small town, has seen police activity ramp up as part of wider efforts to tackle drug-related crime across the Wakefield district. Investigations like this one typically involve months of surveillance, intelligence gathering, and coordination between multiple teams before charges are brought.

The successful prosecution of all five men will be seen as a win for West Yorkshire Police and the communities affected by drug supply in the area. Residents and local leaders have long called for tougher action on street-level dealing and the supply chains that feed it.

West Yorkshire Police encouraged anyone with information about drug supply in their area to come forward and contact the force directly, or to report anonymously through Crimestoppers.
