Masked Gang Filmed Carrying Guns And Weapons On Limerick Street In Shocking Video

A deeply unsettling video has emerged from Limerick showing a large group of masked men openly carrying firearms, iron bars and slash hooks through what appears to be a public area, sparking serious concern and a garda investigation.

The footage, which has been widely shared online, shows the armed group moving together in broad daylight, their faces covered. The weapons on display range from what appear to be guns to blunt instruments and agricultural slash hooks, the kind of imagery more associated with organised criminal intimidation than everyday street life.

An Garda Siochana confirmed they are aware of the video and that investigations are currently ongoing. A spokesperson described the incident as an alleged public order incident, though the scale and nature of what is shown in the footage has prompted significant public reaction, with many describing the scenes as shocking and deeply alarming.

Limerick has had a long and complicated history with organised crime and gang activity, most notably during the bitter feuds of the 2000s that eventually led to the establishment of the Limerick Garda Division and targeted policing operations that helped bring serious violence under control. Scenes like those captured in this latest video bring back uncomfortable memories for many in the city.

The brazen nature of the incident is what has struck most people who have viewed the footage. Carrying weapons of this kind in a public setting is not just a serious criminal offence, it represents a deliberate show of force, the kind of display intended to intimidate rather than go unnoticed. The fact that those involved made no apparent effort to conceal what they were doing has only added to the level of concern.

Local representatives and community figures in Limerick have reacted with alarm. The idea that a group of this size could gather, masked and armed, in a public space raises serious questions about organised criminal activity in the area and what exactly the gathering was intended to signal or achieve.

Garda sources have not yet confirmed the exact location within Limerick where the incident took place or when precisely it occurred, but investigations are understood to be active. It is not yet clear whether any arrests have been made in connection with the footage.

For residents in the area, the video has been a jarring reminder that despite years of progress in tackling gang culture in Limerick, the threat of organised intimidation has not fully disappeared. Community groups have long argued that sustained garda presence and investment in disadvantaged areas are the only long term solutions to preventing this kind of activity from taking root again.

Authorities are expected to provide further updates as the investigation progresses. Anyone with information related to the incident has been urged to contact their local garda station or reach out through the confidential line.

  1. Absolute state of that. Limerick’s had issues for years but seeing it on video like that is something else. Hope the guards are actually doing something about it rather than just watching the footage back.
