Murder Hunt Launched After Man Found Shot Dead In His Car In East London

Detectives have launched a murder investigation after a man was found shot dead inside a car in east London in the early hours of the morning.

The victim, a man in his 40s, was discovered with gunshot wounds in what police are treating as a serious and targeted incident. Officers were called to the scene in the early hours, where they found the man dead inside the vehicle.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed a full murder investigation is now underway, with detectives working to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing and identify anyone responsible.

Gun crime in London remains a serious concern for the Met, with a number of fatal shootings recorded across the capital in recent years. Incidents involving victims found in vehicles are particularly challenging for investigators, as witnesses are often scarce during the early morning hours when many of these attacks take place.

Police have not yet released the identity of the victim, with next of kin yet to be formally notified. Enquiries are ongoing and detectives are understood to be appealing for anyone with information, CCTV footage, or dashcam recordings from the area to come forward.

A crime scene was established at the location, with forensic officers working to gather evidence in the hours following the discovery. Local residents woke to a heavy police presence in the area as officers worked to piece together what happened.
