Actor and filmmaker Noel Clarke has been formally charged with six sexual offences following allegations made by five women, the Crown Prosecution Service has confirmed.
The charges against the former Doctor Who star include two counts of sexual assault, three counts of voyeurism, and one count of exposure. Prosecutors say the alleged offences took place between 2007 and 2016.
Clarke, who rose to fame playing Mickey Smith in Doctor Who before going on to write and direct films including the Kidulthood trilogy, has faced serious scrutiny since a wave of allegations first surfaced publicly in 2021. At the time, more than 20 women came forward with accusations ranging from groping to harassment and bullying on set. Clarke denied the allegations.
The British Film Institute suspended his BAFTA fellowship, which had been awarded just days before the original allegations were published. The prestigious honour had been seen as a career high point for Clarke, who had been widely celebrated for his contributions to British cinema and television.
