A man from Porth stabbed his own brother in the thigh and then tried to wriggle out of trouble by lying to police about what happened, a court has heard.
Ceri Paul Robinson left his brother seriously injured after the stabbing, which caused significant damage to his leg. Rather than come clean about what he had done, Robinson decided to spin a false story to officers in a bid to save his own skin.
The attack left his brother with a serious wound to the thigh. Stab injuries in that area carry real danger, given the major blood vessels that run through the upper leg, and the victim required medical attention following the incident.
When police arrived and began asking questions, Robinson did not hold his hands up. Instead he chose to lie, telling officers a version of events designed to shift the blame and protect himself from the consequences of what he had done. The attempt to deceive investigators only added to the gravity of what was already a deeply serious situation.
Prosecutors brought the case to court where the full picture of what Robinson had done was laid out. Stabbing a family member and then lying to the police about it left little room for sympathy, and the case highlighted just how quickly a domestic situation can turn violent and dangerous.
