Cardiff reggae outfit Captain Accident & The Disasters have marked the release of their fifth studio album, Sayonara Paranoia, with a hometown show at one of the Welsh capital’s most beloved music venues, Clwb Ifor Bach.
The band, who have built a loyal following across Wales and beyond over the years, chose the iconic Cardiff venue to launch the new record in front of the fans who have supported them from the beginning. For a group so closely tied to the city, there was really nowhere else that would have felt right.
Clwb Ifor Bach, tucked away on Womanby Street in the heart of Cardiff, has long been a cornerstone of the Welsh music scene. It has hosted countless Welsh language and homegrown acts over the decades, and for a band like Captain Accident & The Disasters, playing there carries real meaning. It is not just a gig, it is a statement about where they come from and who they make music for.
Sayonara Paranoia marks a significant milestone for the group, being their fifth album release. Reaching that point as an independent Welsh reggae act is no small achievement, and the hometown crowd turned out to celebrate it properly.
Captain Accident & The Disasters have carved out a distinctive space in the Welsh music landscape, blending reggae sounds with an energy and personality that has kept audiences coming back. Their shows are known for being lively, warm affairs, and the Clwb Ifor Bach launch was no different by all accounts.
The band’s connection to Cardiff and to Wales more broadly runs through everything they do, and Sayonara Paranoia continues that tradition. Getting to album number five is the kind of thing that deserves to be marked properly, and a packed show at one of Cardiff’s favourite grassroots venues is about as fitting a celebration as you could ask for.
For anyone who missed the launch show, the album is out now.
