A Cork couple had one of the most memorable wedding send-offs you could ask for, as Gillian Fitzgerald and Nicky Kelly were greeted by a guard of honour from Mayfield GAA club on their big day.
Gillian, originally from Glanmire, and Nicky, from Mayfield, exchanged vows at St Mary’s Cathedral in Killarney, one of the most stunning settings for a wedding in the whole country. The iconic Kerry cathedral, with its soaring ceilings and rich history, set the tone for what was clearly a special occasion.
After the ceremony, the couple were met outside by Nicky’s Mayfield GAA clubmates, who formed a guard of honour to welcome the newlyweds. It’s the kind of moment that gets people talking, and rightly so. There’s something about a GAA club showing up for one of their own that captures everything good about community life in Ireland.
The celebrations continued at The Great Southern Hotel in Killarney, a venue that has hosted countless milestone moments and remains one of the most sought-after wedding reception spots in Munster.
