A shopper has sparked a heated debate online after calling for adults-only shopping hours at IKEA, following a frustrating visit that left them out of pocket and seriously wound up.
The customer, who was attempting to return a table at their local IKEA, says the trip turned into a nightmare when a child pushed a shopping trolley straight into the item, causing damage before they could even get to the returns desk.
Understandably annoyed, they took to social media to vent, and the post quickly picked up traction, with hundreds of people wading in to share their own chaotic IKEA experiences.
The original poster argued that certain times of the day should be set aside exclusively for adults, suggesting that families with young children should be limited to specific shopping windows rather than having free reign of the store at all hours.
The comment divided opinion pretty sharply. Some shoppers were fully on board, pointing out that large furniture stores with tight walkways, trolleys and glass displays are not exactly ideal environments for unsupervised kids running about. Others pushed back hard, calling the suggestion unrealistic and unfair on parents who have no choice but to bring their children along when doing the weekly shop or picking up furniture.
IKEA stores are well known for being a bit of an event in themselves.
