Rangers Look To Seize Top Spot Against Kilmarnock In Crucial Premiership Clash

Rangers have a massive chance to go top of the Scottish Premiership this afternoon as they host Kilmarnock at Ibrox in what could be a pivotal moment in the title race.

A win for the Gers would put them above Celtic, at least temporarily, ahead of the champions travelling to Motherwell on Sunday. It is the kind of opportunity Rangers cannot afford to let slip, with the gap between the two Glasgow giants remaining tight as the season heats up.

Kilmarnock arrive at Ibrox as no pushovers though. Derek McInnes has his side well organised this season and they have caused problems for the bigger clubs on more than one occasion. Rangers will need to be at their best to get the three points.

The atmosphere at Ibrox is expected to be electric, with the home support well aware of what is at stake. A victory today would crank up the pressure on Celtic before they even kick a ball on Sunday, and the Rangers fans will be doing everything they can to play their part.

Philippe Clement will be looking to his key players to step up in a game of this magnitude. Rangers have shown they can grind out results when it matters, but they will want a performance that sends a real statement to their rivals up the road.

For Kilmarnock, a positive result against one of the Old Firm sides would be a serious boost to their own ambitions further down the table. They have nothing to lose coming to Ibrox and that can sometimes make a side even more dangerous.

All eyes in Scottish football will be on this one before attention switches to Fir Park on Sunday. The title race is very much alive and this afternoon could go a long way to shaping how the rest of the season plays out.
