Police have recovered the body of a man from the River Clyde after witnesses reported seeing him enter the water in the early hours of the morning.
Emergency services were scrambled to the scene following reports that a man had been seen going into the river. Officers from Police Scotland, along with search and rescue teams, launched an immediate response operation.
The body was subsequently pulled from the Clyde, one of Scotland’s most iconic and historically significant waterways that runs through the heart of Glasgow.
Police Scotland confirmed the recovery and stated that the death is currently being treated as unexplained, as is standard procedure in such circumstances. Investigations are ongoing to formally identify the man and establish the full circumstances surrounding his death.
The River Clyde has long been a focal point of Glasgow’s identity, stretching over 100 miles through central Scotland. However, the waterway has also been the site of numerous tragic incidents over the years, prompting ongoing calls for improved safety measures along its banks.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased, and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal as part of standard Scottish legal procedure following any unexplained death.
