Three Arrested After Alleged Abduction Closes Major East Lothian Road

Three people have been arrested in connection with an alleged abduction in East Lothian, police have confirmed, after officers shut down a major road as part of the operation.

The A198 in Longniddry was closed between the junctions for Cunningham Court and Coal Road while police carried out their response to the incident. The closure caused significant disruption for drivers in the area as officers worked to deal with the unfolding situation.

Police Scotland confirmed that three individuals have been taken into custody in connection with the alleged abduction. The force has not yet released details about the identities of those arrested or the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident.

Local residents in Longniddry were left shaken by the heavy police presence in the area, with the road closure signalling the seriousness with which officers treated the situation. The A198 is a key route running through the East Lothian coastal corridor, connecting several communities along that stretch.

Police Scotland have urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward. Enquiries are said to be ongoing as detectives piece together exactly what happened.

A full statement from Police Scotland is expected as the investigation develops.
