Boherbue put in an impressive performance to land the Duhallow Cup on Sunday, leaving Rockchapel to rue what might have been despite a spirited effort right to the final whistle.
The game had plenty of heart from both sides, but Boherbue were simply the better team on the day and made it count when it mattered most. They controlled the key moments throughout and their dominance was reflected clearly on the scoreboard come the final whistle.
Rockchapel refused to throw in the towel and kept pushing until the very end, which is a credit to the character of the squad. Late points from Jack Curtin and Cormac Curtin gave the scoreline a slightly more respectable look, but in truth those orange flags were nothing more than consolation scores at that stage of the game.
Boherbue will be the ones celebrating tonight, and rightly so. They were the standout side across the contest and fully deserved to take the Duhallow Cup back with them. For Rockchapel, there will be plenty of positives to build on even in defeat, and the fact they kept fighting until the end shows the kind of mentality that will serve them well in future competitions.
The Duhallow club scene continues to throw up competitive games and this final was no different, with both clubs giving their supporters a match worth watching. Boherbue however were a cut above and their victory was well earned.
