Enniscorthy’s second hockey team turned in a strong performance to beat UCD 3-1, a result that will do plenty for confidence in the Wexford club as the season pushes on.
The home side were the sharper team from early on and made their dominance count on the scoreboard, putting three goals past the college side to secure a comfortable winning margin. UCD pulled one back but it was never enough to seriously threaten the outcome.
For Enniscorthy, it was the kind of win that builds momentum. Beating a university side is always a decent benchmark, and doing it by two clear goals shows there is real quality in this squad beyond just the first team setup.
The result keeps Enniscorthy in good shape and gives the players in the seconds plenty to be positive about as they look ahead to their remaining fixtures.
