Sean McCann had his parents Kate and Gerry in his corner as he made his mark at the Commonwealth Games, qualifying for the final of the 400 metres freestyle swimming event.
The young swimmer, brother of Madeleine McCann who disappeared in Portugal back in 2007, put in an impressive performance in the heats to book his spot in the final. Kate and Gerry were spotted in the stands cheering him on as he competed.
Sean has been making a name for himself in the pool in recent years and his performance at the Commonwealth Games is another step forward for the teenager who has shown serious promise as a competitive swimmer.
For Kate and Gerry, watching their son compete on such a big stage will have been a proud moment. The couple have endured decades of heartbreak following the disappearance of their daughter Madeleine, who went missing from Praia da Luz in Portugal when she was just three years old. Sean and his twin sister Amelie were just two years old at the time.
Despite everything the family has been through, Sean has clearly channelled his energy into sport and his qualification for the 400 metres freestyle final shows he has real ability in the water.
The Commonwealth Games provides one of the biggest platforms outside of the Olympics for swimmers, and making a final at that level is no small achievement. Sean will now line up against some of the best swimmers from across the Commonwealth nations when the final takes place.
His parents will no doubt be back in the stands to watch him compete for a medal.
